Notice of Special Accommodations (ADA)
**Under the Americans with Disabilities Act In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ('ADA'), the Utah Legislature will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.
Employment: The Utah Legislature does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices.
Effective Communication: The Utah Legislature will generally, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services, such as sign language interpreters and alternative text such as Braille, in order to effectively communicate with qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in the Utah Legislature's programs, services, and activities. Modifications to Policies and
Procedures: The Utah Legislature will make all reasonable modifications to policies, procedures, and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities. For example, individuals with service animals are welcomed in Utah Legislature offices, even where pets are generally prohibited. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of the Utah Legislature, should contact The Office of Legislative Services by phone - (801) 326-1596 or use Relay Utah (toll-free in-state 7-1-1 or Spanish-language (888) 346-3162), by e-mail - HR@Le.Utah.Gov, by fax - (801) 538-1712, or by mail - W000 House Building, State Capitol Complex, Salt Lake City, UT 84114, giving at least 48 hours' notice or the best notice practicable. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests for aids and services for effective communication during the annual General Session. However, please note that given the unpredictable and fast-paced nature of the legislative process, it is essential that you notify us of an accommodation request as soon as possible. Failure to do so in some circumstances may result in the Utah Legislature's inability to accommodate the request. The ADA does not require the Utah Legislature to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden. Complaints that a program, service, or activity of the Utah Legislature is not accessible to persons with disabilities should be directed to: Debbie Cragun, HR Administrator and ADA Coordinator Office of Legislative Services W000 House Building, State Capitol Complex Salt Lake City, UT 84114 Phone: (801) 326-1600 Fax: (801) 538-1712
