- Grand County Trail Mix Committee Meeting Minutes Tuesday, Jan 13, 2026 Held Grand Center (indoors) Draft DRAFT Meeting called to order at 11:03am Attendance Noted by BC. Approval Of Minutes Colin motioned, Patrick seconded. Approved unanimously. Citizens to be Heard Anna Sprout introduced her role with Steward Moab, a newly-established 501c3 nonprofit. They are organizing a commercial guide summit which will be a 2-day event with a special presentation on adaptive athletes & equipment. Thanks to CNHA for bridge/seed funding to establish the organization. Action items Elections: No current representatives have sought changes of their positions. Kirsten made a motion to approve all representatives for reappointment in the coming year. Jacques seconded. Unanimously approved. Discussion items March 1 eBike regulations: Class 1 eBikes will be allowed on all BLM trails on March 1, 2026. TrailMix would like to author a one-sheet to share with shuttles and public to communicate policy and areas. Katie shared that the BLM is planning a Trail Day on March 2 when they will update signage. GCATT requests help liaising with bike shops and sharing social media information. One-sheet communication will be sourced from a variety of pre-existing eBike authorities, including Moab PD, IMBA, Fruita trail systems, and elsewhere. Group discussion about ethics, etiquette, protocols, approaches, and best-practices followed. Spring Spruce-Up: April 11, 2026! MARC is reserved, beer permit acquired. There's a small budget (~$4k) available which may help pay for food. Quality over quantity for our projects! So far we have 4-5 projects and could use a few more. Email Evan with proposals. Lunches will again be provided by Antica Forma. Default will be no shuttles provided to projects, but project leaders or participants could organize shuttle/carpool. Tentative schedule: 8am meet 9am disperse to project Work for the day 5-8pm post-event dinner 8pm clean up DRAFT Film event: Sam wants to show new short doc Best Day Ever in Moab. Committee members are interested in hosting it in conjunction with Mud Springs grand opening 4/24. New trail: Evan wants everyone to know the new Falcon Climb is now open! It's sandy but will firm up. It will be completed later. Master plan: Was adopted by the City on December 9! The County planning commission voted to recommend its approval but County Commission hasn't yet voted on it and may not bring it to a vote. Recreation Trails Program (RTP) Grant: Federal money administered by state and may be restructured. Grant is due April 10; TM will vote on a letter of support in February and Commission will be approached after that. Member reports BLM: Katie and the BLM are helping to host events recognizing the 250th anniversary of our country. Lily is working on trail accessibility and documenting objective measurement of our trails. They've recorded 56 trails and 106 miles. Forest Service: Brian reports on a slow start to the winter season, road closures, and advanced imaging technology (snow web cam). The FS will be able to hire seasonals this summer and may add to their trail crew. GCATT: Report contained in discussion items. Health Dept: People are still gross! Poop programs ongoing. County: City: Patrick is working on a way-finding initiative in collaboration between the City & County. Colin reports that they have finished strategic planning. RAP tax applications open 1/23. Chair: BC says thank you! Vice Chair: Absent Secretary: Absent Biking: Absent Climbing: Faith is working on collaborative projects and trailwork maintenance. Equestrian: Marty reports that Backcounty Horsemen are doing their annual membership drive. DRAFT Last year, 23 individuals were members and 25 families were members. They plan to improve the Onion Creek corrals for Spring Spruce Up. Steve is working to improve SEO for travelers. Hiking: Kya suggests Hidden Valley as a trail for targeted effort. Trail running: Skiing: KP reports grooming is happening! Active Transport: Nothing to report! GCSAR: Scott reports that 100% of their 2026 rescues have been for hikers. A snowmobiler is lucky to be alive after an avalanche in Dark Canyon last week. Thin snowpack is dangerous. 143 callouts in 2025, the second-busiest ever. At Large: Dave has not much to report. Tim Rau says that the Falcon climbing trail is good! Mark reports on behalf of the Bike Park that there's been great participation in building and reshaping. The Creek Stewardship Working Group is involved and the fire department is mitigating invasive vegetation. They have a meeting scheduled 2/11/26. Meeting adjourned at ___
