- MEMORANDUM To: Fire Prevention Board Members From: Ted Black State Fire Marshal Date: November 04, 2025 Subject: Fire Prevention Board Meeting. Virtual Meeting A Fire Prevention Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 8:30 A.M. at the Utah State Fire Marshal's office, 410 W 9800 S, Sandy, Utah 84070. Interested parties may attend this meeting in person or by following this link: meet.google.com/yyo-czig-cnv The agenda for the Board Meeting will be as follows: 1. Board meeting called to order by Board Chair Chief Coy Porter 2. Approval of September 9, 2025, Fire Prevention Board meeting minutes. 3. Report to the Board by Chief Scott Spencer, Chair, Utah Fire Service Certification Council. 4. Report to the Board by Bradley Wardle, Director, Utah Fire and Rescue Academy. 5. Recommendation by Bradley Wardle, Director, Utah Fire and Rescue Academy, as a new Certification Council member, Matt Evans, Fire Chief with Washington City Fire Department. He will be replacing Merlin Spendlove, who retired in July 2025. 6. Legislative update, Ted Black, Utah State Fire Marshal. 7. Old Business: 8. New Business: 9. Presentation to the Board by Mike Owens, Chair, Fire Marshal's Code Committee, on the Committee's review of the 2024 International Fire Code. 10. Recommendation by the Board to the Utah State Legislature on the adoption of the 2024 International Fire Code. Ted Black, Utah State Fire Marshal. 11. Public Comment (limit to 2 minutes) 12. Approval by the Board to conduct the January 13, 2026, Fire Prevention Board meeting virtually and in person. 13. Next Board Meeting January 13, 2026, beginning 8:30 A.M., at Utah State Fire Marshal's office, 410 W 9800 S, Suite #372, Sandy, Utah 84070.
