NOTICE OF CONSTABLE APPOINTMENTS
Notice is hereby given that the Salt Lake County Council will consider the appointment of at least three (3) qualified persons to serve as a Salt Lake County Constable. County Constables must meet the requirements of Utah Code Ann. § 17-25a-2 and Salt Lake County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2.50, including being certified as a special function peace officer by the State of Utah.
Qualified persons interested in being appointed to the position of Salt Lake County Constable shall apply no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, May 23, 2025, by providing the following information in writing:
- A written statement of interest, including a statement of reasons why the person desires to be appointed by Salt Lake County specifically, and a statement of all Utah jurisdictions that currently or have previously appointed the person as a constable;
- A resume;
- Demonstration that the individual is currently certified by the State of Utah as a special function peace officer in good standing;
- Report of a criminal background check performed by the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification after May 1, 2025;
- Certificates of registration related to the applicant's current business entity, if applicable;
- Any optional additional information that the applicant desires that the nominating commission consider, including letters of recommendation.

Review of applicants and any interviews with the Salt Lake County constable nominating commission will occur at one or more public meetings to-be-scheduled for dates and times in June, 2025, and published on the Utah Public Notice Website. Successful applicants advanced by the nominating commission will be required to pay a required $500 application fee prior to consideration by the Salt Lake County Council.
