Please take notice that the Kane County Commission has adopted Kane County Resolution No. R 2025-10 a Resolution Giving Notice of Intent to Annex the Towns of Big Water and Alton into the Kane County Human Resource Special Service District with the boundaries to be described as:
All real property within the boundaries of Kane County, Utah.
The District will continue to provide services as provided in Kane County Resolutions 1989-2, 1989-3, 1989-4, and 1991-4-A, including operation of a general services hospital, in-and out-patient care, medical clinic, ambulance, laboratory, surgery, and all things necessary to carry out these purposes by any legal means.
Under State law, taxes may be levied annually upon all taxable property within the special service district and/or fees or charges may be imposed to pay for some or all of the services that the special district provides.
Those who object to the proposed actions may submit an official protest. The protest must be submitted in writing to the Kane County Commission and must state the explanation for the protest. The written protest can be submitted by mail or in person to the Kane County Clerk's Office 76 North Main, Kanab, UT 84741. Written protests must be submitted by July 21, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Individuals who submit a protest can request in writing that their protest be withdrawn and can also cancel a withdrawal if submitted before the same deadline. If adequate protests (as defined by Utah Code 17D-1-102(1)) from registered voters or property owners within the proposed boundaries are submitted, the County Commission will not be able to proceed regarding the adequately protested action.
A public hearing on the proposed district annexation will be held on May 22, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the Commission Chambers, 76 North Main, Kanab, Utah, where all written protests will be given full consideration and all comments from interested individuals will be heard.
