Health and Sex Education Curriculum Review Committee October 2, 2024 in CTE Classroom#2 Chair: Jessica Mohler Attending: Guest Attendees: Opening Statement: We will now begin our Health and Sex Education Curriculum Review Committee meeting. This meeting is being recorded. Today is October 2, 2024. Committee members in attendance today are [names]. We will now begin the discussion of our agenda items. Agenda: Welcome & Introductions of each member Review Norms This is a recommendation committee. This is a safe place for discussion. All recommendations will be made through a simple majority vote. All recommendations will be supported by the majority. The public may address the committee, following the same procedures used in Nebo School District Meetings. All meetings will be posted and the public may contact the chair if they want to make a statement. A time limit of 3 minutes per person will be adhered to. The committee will take the public comments under advisement as it considers recommendations. Review and approve minutes, September 4, 2024 (listed below) Review of materials, continued Review Data on STD Rates, Adolescent Birth, DCFS Reports, and Pornography complaints to schools. From the 2023-24 school year, there were 11 total. Complaints from students, where a student has reported inappropriate use of tech to a teacher or administrator would be 40-50 in that time period as well. SHARP Survey Nebo Summary Slide Deck Curriculum Intro Video Centro Hispano- Review Curriculum Safe Dates Curriculum IBIS- Data for presentations Safe Dates Textbook The target age is 8th and 9th grade Lessons are 40-45 mins Condensed lessons are the 9 lessons in two days Next Meeting: November 6, 2024 Resources: Vetted Materials Document Courses under law and policy requirements
