Notice of Local Emergency Services Sales Tax Ballot Proposition
Public Notice is hereby given that the following special local ballot proposition will appear on the November 5, 2024 ballot for all Summit County voters:
SUMMIT COUNTY PROPOSITION 'A' - EMERGENCY SERVICES
Shall Summit County, Utah be authorized to impose a one-half of one percent (0.5%), which is the equivalent of one penny for every two dollars spent, sales and use tax (not applicable to groceries, gas, prescription drugs, and other items exempt from sales tax) for the purpose of mitigating the impacts of tourism, including emergency medical services, solid waste disposal, search and rescue activities, law enforcement activities, fire protection services, or otherwise permitted by law?

Arguments For and Against: An eligible voter wishing to prepare a written argument for or against this special local ballot proposition for inclusion in the Voter Information Pamphlet must file a request to prepare the argument with the County Clerk. The request must include the voter(s) name, the position they wish to take on the proposition, who they represent, and their contact information. The request must be in writing and submitted in person [60 N. Main St., Coalville, UT 84017], by mail [P.O. Box 128, Coalville, UT 84017] or by email [elections@summitcounty.org] and must be received before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Utah Code Ann. ยง 20A-7-402 governs the Voter Information Pamphlet process.
