Summit Academy Preschool
Our Preschool 4 Year Old Classes are planning their first field trip. We are going to Wilkerson Farm and each student will get a pumpkin. We will also be bringing our enrichment classes along with us! Teachers are excited to add field trips to our program!
We are starting the coaching cycle in preschool. Our Coach Ms. Rachael has already made visits with all staff, staff are welcoming of Rachael and we are excited to be able to support our teachers in the coaching cycle.
We have implemented play based learning centers in our preschool classes where we embed LA, math and science into the play based center. Students have loved the play centers, they are learning and playing at the same time! We also started an art center to increase creativity in our students. Each room has an art cart where teachers place material and during centers preschoolers can collage and have free art! The art cart has become one of the preschoolers favorite centers, it has been fun to watch them be creative!
Summit Academy Draper
Our elementary music classes have begun. We had more than 30 third-fifth graders sign up. We are excited to provide this option to parents.
Our JH students are all enjoying the lunch recess we are providing this year. We have several types of yard games for them to play including giant Connect 4.
To help bridge our connection to the high school we are providing a 'Spirit Shuttle' for our JH students. Cheerleaders from the high school join our JH students as they ride to the home high school football games.
Summit Academy Independence
We love to have our students lead out. We coordinated getting input from all of our junior high students using a word cloud and mentimeter to figure out what norms we should have for hallway expectations. The input was then examined and 3 norms rolled out that our STUDENTS made. The effect is already evident to having students create their own guidelines-they are doing it!
Our student council presented some new ideas including starting some after school activities beginning with our vice president having a speed cubing group on Fridays. Our junior high students say they don't like school but hang around after school a lot which tells us we are doing something right. Our community engagement visitors noted that.
Mark your calendars to tune into Bluffdale City's website September 22nd at 8:15 a.m. for the reading of the Constitution that has grown from APA and Summit to multiple schools at city hall and a live feed to their city park.
Summit Academy Bluffdale
Fall Fest was a success. We had lots of fun and families were able to meet each other and make new connections. We had a butterfly experience as one of our new stations. The students got such a kick out of going into the butterfly enclosure and letting the butterflies land on their fingers.
Bluffdale City Council honored our Bluffdale Principal's at their last council meeting. It was fun to be there and also to see that a member of the Bluffdale City Council is a former Summit student.
Next month they will be honoring one of our students for being an outstanding school community member. It's really great to see our city take such an interest in our schools.
Summit Academy High School
The Homecoming Game was a huge success. We played American Heritage and won 69-9
The Food room is finished and classes are running smoothly.
