d. Consider ratification of a change order for repair of the Storm Drain near Ramada Inn.
BACKGROUND and RECOMMENDATION: Emergency repairs have been continuing on the storm drain pipe and sink hole near the Ramada Inn due to the storm event from Aug 23/24 of this year. After analyzing and comparing repair solutions to the storm drain pipe including open trench excavation and installation of new concrete pipe vs. lining the existing corrugated metal pipe with Hobas pipe or any other potential pipe material, it was determined that Hobas pipe specifications would work in the given situation (i.e. pipe depth, size, strength) at a lower cost and in a quicker, shorter timeframe. The change order is for $686,107. Staff recommends approval.
