CORRECTED NOTICE OF CITY COUNCIL VACANCY APPOINTMENT MEETING DATE CHANGED
Mt. Pleasant City is accepting names from qualified residents interested in being appointed to an upcoming vacancy on the Mt. Pleasant City Council. The vacancy will occur effective October 7, 2026, due to the irrevocable resignation of Councilmember Jake Howcroft.
TERM OF APPOINTMENT: The appointment will be an interim appointment. The individual appointed will serve until the successor elected at the 2027 municipal general election takes office. The seat will be placed on the 2027 municipal ballot for election to the remaining two-year portion of the term, ending in January 2030.
Qualifications: An individual seeking appointment must be a registered voter of Mt. Pleasant City and meet the qualifications for municipal office under Utah law.
How to Apply: Interested individuals must submit their name for consideration and are encouraged to submit the Mt. Pleasant City Council Vacancy Application. Required campaign-finance and conflict-of-interest disclosures must also be filed by the statutory deadline.

Interview and Appointment Meeting

Location: Mt. Pleasant City Council Chambers 115 West Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Utah 84647
The City Council will interview each qualified individual whose name is timely submitted and will consider an appointment during the open and public meeting.
Important filing deadline: A campaign finance statement and required conflict-of-interest disclosure statement must be received by the City Recorder no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, The City has set this filing deadline in advance of the statutory deadline.
