PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a Midterm City Council Vacancy in Hooper City, Utah for District 2. Any person interested in serving as a City Council Member and meeting the following eligibility and residency requirements is hereby invited to complete an application. The appointed Council Member will serve through the vacated term ending December 31, 2029.

Eligibility and Residency Requirements:
1) Candidates must be a United States citizen at time of filing for candidacy.
2) Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the appointment.
3) Candidates must have resided within Hooper City for at least 12 consecutive months, and within District 2 for at least 60 days, immediately preceding the date of appointment.
4) Candidate must be a registered voter of the municipality.
Pursuant to Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute.

Applicants must also submit a completed Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form (available with the application packet) pursuant to Utah Code ยง 20A-1-510(8).

Applications will also be accepted at the city office building.
Meeting for Interviews: The City Council will hold a regular council meeting on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. to interview and select the candidate. This meeting will be held at the Hooper City Offices. Interviews will be conducted in person, and electronic interviews will not be considered.
