NOTICE OF ANNEXATION PETITION

The City of St. George, Utah, hereby gives notice that an annexation petition has been filed with the City requesting the annexation of 2.277 acres located at the intersection of 3430 East in St. George and 3930 South in Washington City. The St. George City Recorder certified the petition for annexation on June 26, 2026. The proposed annexation area is described as follows:
A PARCEL OF LAND LOCATED IN THE NORTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION 2, TOWNSHIP 43 SOUTH, RANGE 15 WEST, SALT LAKE BASE AND MERIDIAN BEING MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
BEGINNING AT A POINT BEING N 00°48'35' E 1177.49 FEET ALONG THE SECTION LINE TO THE POINT OF BEGINNING FROM THE WEST QUARTER CORNER OF SECTION 2, TOWNSHIP 43 SOUTH, RANGE 15 WEST SALT LAKE BASE AND MERIDIAN AND RUNNING;
THENCE N 00°48'35' E 149.72' TO THE 1/16 CORNER;
THENCE S 89°16'01' E 662.41' ALONG THE 1/16 LINE;
THENCE S 00°43'59' W 24.75';
THENCE S 00°52'13' W 125.00';
THENCE N 89°16'01' W 637.56';
THENCE N 89°11'25' W 24.75',
WHICH IS THE POINT OF BEGINNING.
HAVING AN AREA OF 99,192 SQUARE FEET, 2.277 ACRES.
The complete annexation petition is available for inspection and copying at the office of the St. George City Recorder, 61 South Main Street, St. George, Utah, during normal business hours. The City of St. George may grant the petition and annex the above-described area unless a written protest to the annexation petition, is filed with the Washington County Boundary Commission and a copy of the protest is delivered to the St. George City Recorder on or before July 26, 2026. Each protest shall:
1. be filed with the county clerk of the county in which the area proposed for annexation is located;
2. state each reason for the protest of the annexation petition and justification for the protest under the standards established in this part;
3. contain any information that the county boundary commission requires or the party filing the protest considers relevant to the protest; and
4. contain the name and address of a contact person who is to receive notices sent by the boundary commission with respect to the protest proceedings.
Party filing a protest shall on the same day deliver or mail a copy of the protest to the City Recorder.
The area proposed for annexation will be automatically withdrawn from a special district providing fire protection, paramedic, and emergency services or a special district providing law enforcement service, as provided in 17B-1-416, Utah Code Annotated.
If no timely protest is received by the Washington County Boundary Commission and the St. George City Recorder, the St. George City Council will hold a public hearing on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Following the public hearing, the City Council may adopt an ordinance for the annexation of the above-described property.
