4. BOARD WRITTEN UPDATES (Review and ask questions as needed in Board Comments)
a) Henefer Civic Center Public Art
The City of Henefer has confirmed they want help in writing a grant for an art piano for this project. We will follow up with the City in the Spring during grant writing season.
b) Newpark Piano Replacement Update
The piano is ready to be decorated in the future. We are waiting on a final budget from Summit County ($1,000 budget + $500 for moving piano etc).
c) SO/AO RFP Update
The Summit County Justice Center RFP is being drafted with theme including Unity, Community, Justice and Service. Thea previously met with the Sheriff's office to discuss themes for the benches. Any theme would need to equally apply to both the Attorney's Office and the Sheriff's Office. Daniel will provide an update in the budgeting section, but we did receive another $10,000 from Summit County Council so this total project budget will be $52,000 for seven benches ($7,428 each). There is no deadline on spending currently. We are hoping to release this RFP in the next few weeks and will let the board know when we do.
d) Signage for Roundabout Sculptures
Staff has been working through permitting for signage with roundabout sculptures. We received a sign permit and then were told we also need to get an engineering permit. We are hoping to get the details finalized for the engineering permit this week and then follow up with installation details.
e) Skull Candy Building
Skull Candy Building timeline is flexible and may happen anytime between August and next year (2027). The County approved a preliminary $100,000 as a placeholder for public art at the facility. Daniel can provide additional updates on this project as they are available.
f) Quilted Together Project
References were performed and provided to the board in the January written updates. Additionally, Jenny and Jocelyn met on site with the artists and representatives from State Parks. This was a helpful coordination meeting. State Parks has now asked the County to complete an Agreement for the artwork, and we have been working through permitting requirements. All of this information is important to the artists and timeline - we are hoping to finalize these documents, and the artists contracts within the next two weeks to keep the project moving forward and on time. Project must be complete by May 30.
