PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE OF VACANCY GRANTSVILLE CITY COUNCIL Due to the election of Councilmember Heidi Hammond to Grantsville City Mayor, there is a vacancy on the Grantsville City Council. The public is hereby notified of the vacancy and the process by which the City Council will receive applications and act to appoint a registered voter to fill the unexpired term of the vacated office. Anyone desiring to fill the vacant seat on the Grantsville City Council must be a registered voter and must have resided within Grantsville City for twelve consecutive months immediately prior to the date of appointment, among other qualifications described in UCA § 10-3-301. Those interested in filling the vacancy on the City Council should submit a completed application to the City Recorder at afairbourne@grantsvilleut.gov no later than January 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM. In addition to the application, candidates are encouraged to submit a letter or resume that includes a statement of interest and a summary of qualifications. Candidates must also file a Financial Disclosure statement and a Conflict of Interest Disclosure with the City Recorder no later than January 16, 2026 at 5:00 PM. The application, Financial Disclosure Statement and the Conflict of Interest Disclosure are available on the City's website at https://www.grantsvilleut.gov/ under the Elections page. In an open meeting on January 21, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM, in the City Council Chambers located at 429 East Main Street, Grantsville, the City Council will interview each individual who has submitted an application and who meets the qualifications for office, regarding the individual's qualifications and fitness for office. In accordance with the procedures of UCA § 20A-1-510, the Council will then make the appointment to the vacated office. The individual appointed by the City Council shall be sworn in on the date appointed and shall serve as a member of the Grantsville City Council for the remainder of the vacated term - until January 3, 2028.
