TRANSPORTATION 1 ADVISORY COMMISSION

1. Approve Minutes from March 4, 2024
2. Active Transportation Plan (ATP)
. Have $50k in last year's budget
. Applying for Technical Planning Assistance and Technical Assistance Grants due in Dec
2025
. In-house legwork and draft plan to better be positioned for TPA and TAG grants
3. Center Street Widening/Rail Crossing
. Avenue Consultants under contract to design Center Street for a 5-lane cross-section
. Going forward with design and Rail Crossing permit (under contract with UPRR Consultant)
. Long permitting process with Union Pacific Railroad
4. Transportation Utility Fee (TUF)
. Our TUF process is coming along. We meet every few weeks to discuss strategies that are
legally defensible and appropriate.
. This fee will be per type of residence
. The fee for businesses will be trips generated by that business
5. 1600 N 400 E Grade Separated Crossing (Murdock Canal)
. Pursuing MAG funding in December 2025
. Looking at $15M to $18M: very expensive bridge
. Doesn't rank high for need based on safety statistics at this location (near misses don't
count).
. Seeking MAG funding in December
. Will perform a 30% design before December to get better costs
6. City Center (Center Street) Pedestrian Crossing/New Smith's Intersection
. Pedestrian crossing at City Center Park across from TREEO later 2025 or early 2026
. Part of a larger City Center Plan
. Pursuing new signal at Smith's/City Center intersection.
7. Orem Blvd Bike Lanes
. We are planning to change Orem Blvd, between 1200 South to 400 South to single northsouth
lanes and bike lanes. Center Turn Lanes will be removed in some places.
8. UVU 1200 S 400 W Roundabout
. We are close the UVU Roundabout being finished
. Very little local complaints once the initial road closures happened.
9. 400 South/Vineyard Border (pushed to 2026)
. Realigning Sports Park entrance to 44 match road to south
. Removing HAWK signal and adding a full signalized intersection
. Being paid 100% by Vineyard City/MAG/UDOT
. MAG Approved funding for this project. We are waiting on the MAG Boards approval.
