SUBJECT: Fire Prevention Board Meeting           

A Fire Prevention Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 8:30 A.M. at South Salt Lake City Hall, Council Chambers, 220 East Morris Avenue (2430 South), South Salt Lake City, Utah.  

The agenda for the Board Meeting will be as follows:

1. Board meeting called to order by Chairman Ted Black.
2. Approval of the March 8, 2011 Board meeting minutes.
3. Swearing-In Ceremony of newly appointed State Fire Marshal Brent R. Halladay by Commissioner D. Lance Davenport, Utah Department of Public Safety.
4.Introduction to the Board by State Fire Marshal Brent Halladay of newly appointed Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Coy Porter.
5. Recognition of retiring Board member Pete C. Hackford, representative of Labor Commissioner Hayashi, for his service on the Utah Fire Prevention Board.
6. Presentation to the Board by State Fire Marshal Brent Halladay of the proposed 2011 – 2012 Utah Fire & Rescue Academy Annual Training Contract.				 
7. Presentation to the Board by State Fire Marshal Brent Halladay, recommending amendments to R710-2, Rules Pursuant to the Utah Fireworks Act, amending the incorporated references, amending definitions, deleting required rules on testing, deleting the approved fireworks list, establishing rules for the retail sales of fireworks, and other needed amendments.
8. Presentation to the Board by State Fire Marshal Brent Halladay, recommending an amendment to R710-8-3.3.9, Day Care Rules, to establish continuity with regard to fire drills between the Board’s adopted day care rule, and child day care rules adopted by the Department of Health.
9. Presentation to the Board by State Fire Marshal Brent Halladay, proposing to amend R710-9, Rules Pursuant to the Utah Fire Prevention Law, that would add administrative rules to assist in the enactment of the novelty lighter statute.
10. Last appeal to the Board by David W. Carlson seeking reinstatement of his Certificate of Registration to service portable fire extinguishers and automatic fire suppression hood systems, after being revoked on December 22, 2010, by State Fire Marshal Brent Halladay.
