NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS
UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY
Regarding Changes to the Fare Structure
I. UTA is a multi-modal provider of bus, rail, paratransit and other public transportation services along the Wasatch Front. As part of its overall budget planning to support its services and operations, UTA is proposing changes to its current fare structure. These changes include:
a. A multi-year program of modest increases to all fares and passes.
b. Adjustments to the fuel surcharge thresholds to reflect current average fuel costs.
c. An enhanced discount program for low-income riders.
The following public hearings will be held to discuss changing the UTA fare structure:
Utah County: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., February 15th, UCCU Center, Presidential South Suite, UVU Campus, 800 West University Parkway, Orem.
Davis County: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., February 16th, Farmington City Hall, 160 So. Main, Farmington.
Salt Lake County: 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., February 17th, UTA Offices, 669 West 200 South, Salt Lake City.
Weber County: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., February 17th, Commission Chambers, Weber County Building, 2380 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
Tooele County: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., February 22nd, Tooele County Courthouse, Auditorium, 47 So. Main, Tooele.
Salt Lake County: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., February 23rd, UTA Offices, 669 West 200 South, Salt Lake City.
Box Elder County: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., February 24th, Brigham City Hall, Council Chambers, 20 N. Main, Brigham City.

III. Proposed restructuring of fuel surcharge threshold:

IV. At the hearing, the Utah Transit Authority will afford an opportunity for affected citizens, private transportation providers, public officials and interested agencies to comment on the proposed changes. To be included as part of the public hearing record, all comments must be received or postmarked no later than March 3, 2011.
V. THE FORMAT FOR THE PUBLIC HEARINGS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
a. Presentation by UTA representative regarding proposal (at start time).
b. Open house comment period (immediately following the presentation). UTA representatives will be available to answer questions and discuss the proposal. Public comment may be given verbally to court reporter or in writing.
VI. To assure full participation at the hearing, accommodations for effective communication, such as sign language interpreters or printed materials in alternate formats, or a language interpreter for non-English speaking participants, must be requested at least five (5) working days prior to the date of the scheduled event. Requests for ADA accommodations should be directed to UTA ADA Compliance Officer at 801-287-3536 or dial 711 to make a relay call. VIII. Relevant information about the proposed changes will be available at the public hearings or on the website at www.rideuta.com from January 30, 2011 to March 3, 2011. Comments must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than March 3, 2011 to be part of the public hearing record.
