Museum Minutes
January 11, 2017

Present: Talma Peacock, Dawnette Tuttle, Tina Carter, Chris Jensen, Suzanne Anderson, Paul Cowley, and Maegan Wilberg.
Excused: Cliff Oviatt and Randy Jensen.
Talma brought the meeting to order by welcoming all who could make it. She recognized Suzanne Anderson, who is a new board member, as well as Paul Cowley our representation from the Commissions for 2017.
Maegan suggested that some time be given to Paul to explain some items.
Paul stated that a change on the museum board, that Randy Jensen has resigned. It was suggested that we postpone the election of museum Chairman, Vice Chair, and secretary.
Budget approval for 2017: Maegan presented the budget for 2017, stating that the museum has budgeted for $4,000.00 for capital request for a mural in the museum.Maegan stated that she along with the board input would put together a application of some kind for bids for the mural. Reference was made to the minutes from the last meeting. (October 19, 2017).
Motion to approve budget by Dawnette and seconded by Paul vote was unanimous. Motion passed.
Minutes approval: Talma had a few grammar changes for the minutes. Tina suggested that 'Travel Bureau'' be capitalized. The motion to approve the minutes with these changes from October 19, 2016 meeting was made by Paul and seconded by Tina. Vote was unanimous, motion passed to approve minutes.
Travel Bureau Minute: Tina reported that they are still working with the Travel Bureau's logo, and branding. She stated when they get the branding and Logo done and approved, the new video will be able to be done, and will be showed at the next meeting if it is done. Tina stated the Travel Bureau is getting ready to release their grant cycle for this year.
Items to discuss.
Museum Day on the Hill information: Maegan reported that this year's Museum advocacy day will be February 28, 2017 starting at 7:30 A.M. She presented what Museum day on the Hill is. Maegan said that it is a day when Museums all around the state of Utah go to the capitol and promote their museum, to legislators as well as others who are at the capitol that day. Talma suggested that what ever items are going to be taken up for the Museum day need to be approved in our next meeting. It was suggested to put these things in the paper to let the public know what the museum is up to. Maegan suggested that any member of the board who would like to come, to please let her know as soon as possible.
Museum on Main street discussion- (update and moving of objects, etc.): Maegan stated that the main focus of the museum staff at this time is the MOM'S Exhibit. She asked if there was any specific time that members could come help move artifacts. Maegan wants to get the Cart down sooner than later. Maegan states that the committee would like to build a buck and rail fence, as a partition so the artifacts are safe from being touched by visitors. Tina suggested to use our maintenance man to help move the cart. Tina suggested to not only promote the project but to promote the local places to eat, and stay while visitors come down to see the exhibit. Chris suggested getting some kind of discount card for people to come to the exhibit and get a discount card to use at the local places. Tina said she had some and will get some of the discount cards to Maegan for when the exhibit is here. Talma brought up the discussion about getting into our schools and promoting it to them. Maegan reported that once the lesson plan is finished, we send it to Virginia Catherol who helps us take it into our schools and gets the information to them that way. Chris suggested on having a search and find for the kids to complete when they come, or a coloring page for the artifacts that are here in the exhibit. Maegan said she would take that back to the committee and suggest adding that to it. It was suggested by the board to start promoting in the progress, etv, and the radio stations KOAL etc. Talma suggested that we get some kind of brochure to the other museums in Price and Helper, to promote the exhibit.
Duties Discussion Board: Maegan reported that there was a training provided by the county on January 10, 2017 that talked about board responsibilities. Tina informed the board that Jeff Guymon had recorded it and would be getting copies to all who wanted it. Maegan said that when she gets the information she will forward it to the rest of the board. Talma suggested to table this to the next meeting.
Strategic Plan Discussion: Maegan provided copies of the strategic plan to all. Maegan stated she would like to follow the strategic plan and by-laws to the best of her ability for the New Year. Maegan suggests that if there are any changes that need to be made to read through the Strategic Plan and let Maegan know, and if it needs to be discussed in a future meeting. Maegan reported on inventory for the pioneer museum is at a stand still due to the coldness of the weather. She states she would like to involve anyone who would like to come help with inventory to let her know and she would train them how to do inventory. Maegan also stated she would like to work on a grant to purchase a program to start cataloging. It was suggested to see if Suzanne had another license for Past Perfect program. Suzanne and Maegan will talk with Jeff Guymon to see if there is a way to split the cost for Past perfect program.
Motion to adjourn was made by Tina and seconded by Paul. The vote was unanimous, and the motion passed Meeting was Adjourn at 2:15 pm.
