Description/Agenda: | NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY RE: Proposed December 2016 Service Changes. UTA is proposing service changes to local bus service in Salt Lake County. A Public Hearing will be held at the location listed below to discuss these proposed changes. The hearing is to gather feedback for changes to route 500 that serves downtown Salt Lake City. UTA Headquarters 669 West 200 South, Salt Lake City, Utah October 10, 2016 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. At the hearing, the Utah Transit Authority will provide an opportunity for citizens, private transportation providers, public officials and interested agencies to comment on the proposed changes. To be included as part of the Public Comment record, all comments must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than October 18, 2016. THE FORMAT FOR THE PUBLIC HEARINGS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS: Open House to review and discuss the proposal with UTA representatives; public comment accepted anytime during the Open House. To assure full participation at the hearing, accommodations for effective communication such as sign language interpreters, printed materials in alternative formats or a language interpreter for non-English speaking participants, must be requested at least five (5) working days prior to the date of the scheduled event. Requests for ADA accommodations should be directed to UTA ADA Compliance Officer at 801-741- 8871 or dial 711 to make a relay call for deaf or hearing impaired persons. To request a language interpreter, please contact the UTA Public Hearing Officer at 801-287-2270. Proposal is as follows: UTA is proposing changes to route 500. The proposal is to change the route's southern terminus from Salt Lake Central Station to the Courthouse TRAX Station. The route would no longer serve Salt Lake Central Station, 200 South between 600 West and 400 West, 400 West between 200 South and 400 South, and 400 South between 400 West and State Street. The reason for the proposed changes is due to the route's underperformance in the section that runs between Salt Lake Central Station and State Street. UTA would also like to create improved connections from Courthouse Station, which is served by three TRAX lines (Red, Blue and Green lines), to the State Capitol. Changes are also anticipated to offer better connections along the North Temple corridor between State Street and the North Temple Station. Under the proposal, passengers who utilize route 500 to connect to FrontRunner at Salt Lake Central Station would have to connect to the commuter rail system at North Temple Station. The proposed vehicle type for route 500 is a Glaval Titan II with a maximum capacity of 20.
