- PUBLIC NOTICE The Board of Education of Jordan School District will meet in potential closed and study sessions on November 14, 2023 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the JATC South Campus (Board Conference Room), 12723 S. Park Avenue (2080 West), Riverton, Utah. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The Jordan School District Board of Education will hold a public hearing for consideration of a boundary change to address pocket busing issues potentially affecting the following schools: Sunset Ridge Middle School, Joel P. Jenson Middle School, West Jordan High School, and Copper Hills High School on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at the JATC South Campus (Board Conference Room), 12723 S. Park Avenue (2080 West), Riverton, Utah. Patrons may view the meeting online at https://boardmeeting.jordandistrict.org/. AGENDA November 14, 2023 1. STUDY SESSION - OPEN MEETING - 4:00 p.m. The Board may engage in discussion, provide administrative direction, or take other action on any of the study session agenda items listed below. A. Portrait of a Graduate Strategic Plan Project Committee Report Ms. Tracy Miller, Board President Ms. Niki George, Board First Vice President Dr. Anthony Godfrey, Superintendent of Schools Ms. Carolyn Gough, Administrator of Teaching & Learning Committee report on the progress toward development of the Jordan Portrait of a Graduate. Desired outcome: Board members will hold discussion and give direction to staff, if needed. B. Report on Survey Results for Potential Boundary Changes Dr. Michael Anderson, Associate Superintendent Report on the survey regarding potential boundary changes affecting Sunset Ridge Middle School, Joel P. Jenson Middle School, West Jordan High School, and Copper Hills High School. Desired outcome: Information to the Board with direction to staff for next steps. C. Recommendations for Opening Date and Implementation of Boundaries for New Elementary School in South Jordan Dr. Michael Anderson, Associate Superintendent Mr. Scott Thomas, Administrator of Auxiliary Services Discussion on recommendations from staff for target opening date for the new school and how the new boundaries should be implemented. Desired outcome: Board members will hold discussion and give staff direction for next steps. D. Discussion on Funding Options for New Elementary School in South Jordan Mr. Bryce Dunford, Chair, Finance Advisory Committee Mr. John Larsen, Business Administrator Discussion on options provided by the Finance Committee on funding for the new elementary school. Desired outcome: Board members will hold discussion and give the Committee direction. E. Review of Restroom Facilities Mr. Scott Thomas, Administrator of Auxiliary Services Review of restroom facilities in Jordan School District schools and buildings. Desired outcome: Board members will hold discussion and give staff direction, if needed. F. Board Newsletter Dr. Darrell Robinson, Second Vice President Ms. Sandra Riesgraf, Director, Communications Discussion on logistics and possible options for a Board newsletter. Desired outcome: Board members will hold discussion and give staff direction. G. Board Policy GP110 Public Participation at Board Meetings Ms. Tracy Miller, Board President Review of the Board policy regarding public participation in a Board meeting. Desired outcome: Board members will hold discussion and make suggestions for updates, if needed. H. PUBLIC HEARING - 6:30 p.m. Ms. Tracy Miller, President The Jordan School District Board of Education will hold a public hearing for consideration of a boundary change to address pocket busing issues potentially affecting the following schools: Sunset Ridge Middle School, Joel P. Jenson Middle School, West Jordan High School, and Copper Hills High School. The Board will take public comment in accordance with Board policy GP110 Public Participation at Board Meetings. Public comment will be taken in person; patrons may also submit their comments to boardcomments@jordandistrict.org before 3:00 p.m. the day of the meeting. Public comments submitted via email will be read after hearing from those speakers attending the meeting. If a large number of patrons have signed up to speak, the Board may elect to adjust the time allocated to each speaker to allow more patrons the opportunity to be heard. During this hearing, the Board will take public comment on a boundary change to address pocket busing issues potentially affecting the following schools: Sunset Ridge Middle School, Joel P. Jenson Middle School, West Jordan High School, and Copper Hills High School; however, no comments will be allowed regarding personnel issues or statements regarding the character, professional competence, and the physical or mental health of an individual. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT A. Public Comment on Proposed K-3 Early Intervention Reading Software Program The Board will receive public comment on proposed Early Intervention Reading Software Program for grades K-3.
