- SALT LAKE CITY CORPORATION SALT LAKE CITY COUNCIL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING PROPOSED TAX INCREASE SALT LAKE CITY LIBRARY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT ON Tuesday, August 15, 2023, a public hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. by the Salt Lake City Council to accept public comment and consider adopting one or more ordinances adopting the final rate of tax levy, for all City funds including the Library Fund, in an amount greater than the Certified Tax Rate, upon all real and personal property within Salt Lake City made taxable by law for Fiscal Year 2023-24 and adopting the final budget, including the Library Budget, for Fiscal Year 2023-24. SALT LAKE CITY LIBRARY is proposing a one-time tax levy to pay a final and unappealable judgement or order to refund property tax to a taxpayer(s). The total amount required to be collected to refund the tax is $293,207 The tax impact on a $576,000 resident will be $2.22 for one year. The tax impact on a $576,000 business will be $4.03 for one year. To obtain more information regarding the tax increase, citizens may contact Salt Lake City at 801-535-7600. All persons interested and present will be given an opportunity to be heard in this matter. This meeting will be held via electronic means, while also providing an in-person opportunity to attend or participate in the hearing at the City and County Building, located at 451 South State Street, Room 315, Salt Lake City, Utah.
