- PUBLIC NOTICE Vernal City is applying for funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfields Cleanup Grant to address volatile organic compounds (VOCs), petroleum, and asbestos contamination at the former Lamplighter (120 East Main Street) and Basin Laundry (54 South 100 East) sites. A draft grant application, including the draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA), is available for public review and comment at: Vernal City Recorder's Office 375 East Main Street Vernal, Utah 84078 The Vernal City will hold a Public Meeting to present the proposed cleanup plan, review the draft ABCA, discuss key components of the EPA Cleanup Grant application, provide site history and environmental context, and receive community feedback: Public Meeting: Vernal City Council Meeting Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2026 Time: 6:00 pm Location: Vernal City Hall Council Room Community members are encouraged to attend, review the draft materials, provide comments, and learn more about future redevelopment opportunities for this important neighborhood site (Lamplighter property and former Basin Laundry). Submitting Comments: Written comments on the draft application and ABCA may be submitted by email to qbennion@vernal.gov. Comments will also be accepted during the public meeting. Written comments will be accepted through 4:30 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
