- CITY OF LAVERKIN, UTAH NOTICE OF VACANCY - CITY COUNCIL Notice is hereby given that a vacancy exists on the LaVerkin City Council due to the resignation of a council member. Pursuant to Utah Code § 20A-1-510(1)(b), the LaVerkin City Council shall, within 30 calendar days after the date the vacancy occurred, appoint a qualified person to fill the unexpired term of the vacated office. Qualifications To be eligible for appointment, an individual must meet the qualifications for municipal office as set forth in Utah Code § 10-3-301, which are as follows: 1. Be a United States citizen; 2. Be a registered voter within the City of LaVerkin; 3. Have resided within the City of LaVerkin for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of appointment; and 4. Not have been convicted of a felony, treason, bribery, or a crime involving moral turpitude, unless the individual's right to hold office has been restored under Utah law. Application Process Qualified persons interested in being considered for appointment shall submit an application/declaration of candidacy to the LaVerkin City Recorder at the LaVerkin City Office located at located at 435 North Main Street, LaVerkin, Utah, no later than 5:00 p.m. November 26, 2025. Any declaration of candidacy or other application received after this date and time shall not be accepted and shall not be considered. Appointment Process The LaVerkin City Council will interview qualified applicants in an open city council meeting to be held at 6 p.m. on December 3, 2025 at 111 South Main Street, LaVerkin, Utah, in accordance with Utah Code §20A-1-510.
