- SESC Board Meeting March 27, 2025 Book Cliff Elementary, Green River, Utah Welcome from Director Hardy (10:00 am) USBE Updates - SESC Staff Consent Items: Minutes - November 21, 2024 Warrants - 11/21/24, 11/27/24, 12/5/24, 12/12/24, 12/20/24, 1/9/25, 1/16/25, 1/30/25, 2/6/25, 2/13/25, 2/20/25, 2/27/25, 3/6/25, 3/20/25 Previous Commitments to Action: Meet with Doug Miller, USU-E John talked with Doug on the phone (2/11/25) When he can't attend, he stated he would send someone in his place. Contact Christian Olsen (USU-Moab, USU-San Juan) Discussion Items: Contact Christian Olsen (USU-Moab, USU-San Juan) Contact has not been made. I would like clarity about what role we are asking him to play with SESC. Ex offico member of the board? 2nd Read: Code 102 - Organization Chart- Would need to add to policy Policy Code 101.E.a will also need to be revised to include the desired role (ex offico?) Joel Coleman- Q&A Session on School of Deaf and Blind Funding would like to come and speak to you. Kordine Nelson, Manager Price Communications Center - Invite to the next board meeting (June or Next Fall when meeting at SESC?) Policy Revision, 1st Reads Code 317 - Retention Schedule URSA Conference, Park City High School July 9-11, 2025: Grand SD - Administrator of Year Mental Health Grant Reduction in funds by $2 million per year Updates will be sent out PBS Kids Grant Update Parties have been held with winning classrooms. Spelling Bee and Quiz Bowl are complete Proposal: Monthly Information Zoom for Superintendents and Directors 20-30 minutes monthly (set day and time every month), specifically for Superintendents/Directors - interactive, allows you to ask questions as well as gather information. Tentative Topics to Provide Updates From USBE/UEN on: Assessment Directors Meetings - JoLynn Literacy Directors Meetings - Dina C-Forum Updates (Technology) - Nathan/JoLynn IT Updates- Jeremiah LETRS/Early Learning/Coaching - Dina/Anna SESC Media Library- Sara Proposed Day and Time: Day: Fourth Thursday of the month Time: 9:00 am Year-Long PD Plans for Schools based on LEAs Big 4, 5, or 6 Platforms SESC supports Plan Examples Funding for Dina and Anna's coaching positions update Waiting for USBE to open the grant funding opportunity Early Learning Grants were repealed for next year (Losing our $75,000 funds) Role of URSA RESA Directors were asked to update the vision, mission for URSA. Review URSA Strategic Plan Update Need to discuss: What is URSA? Conference Committee? Voice for Advocating? Hub for Connecting with Other Organizations- Higher Ed, UEN, USBE, etc. What do you WANT URSA to be? Business/Action Items: Policy Revision, 2nd Read Code 104 - Nondiscrimination May Board Meeting Date Change John will be out of the state. First week of June, any available dates? (Not June 3rd) Location: San Juan Also, hold a required budget hearing meeting as part of the meeting
