Town of Cannonville
Planning Commission Meeting Minutes
May 21, 2025
Town of Cannonville held a Planning Commission Meeting, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in the
town Hall. The meeting began at 6:05pm. Purpose of the meeting was to continue to review
the ongoing changings to the Town of Cannonville Zoning Ordiance.
Public in Attendance: Bill Scoffield, Bradyn Nielson
Board Members: Peter Jensen, Chelsea Nielson, Klancy Ott, (excused), Cole Twitchell, & Mark
Nelson
Minutes of the previous Planning Commission meeting held March 19, 2025 were reviewed
and approved. Motion Cole Twitchell, 2nd Chelsea Nielson, all in favor. Agenda was also
approved.
Discussion: The Chair, Pete Jensen, indicated the zoning document was still under review, he
was making some additional clarifying changes, and encouraged the board to do the same
before the next meeting.
A discussion ensued about regular or limited variances and how they should be handled in the
document. All situations would be hard to include reasonably in the doc, so the consensus
was to leave the verbiage for regular variances as is, to be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
There was also some discussion about bldg design and house colors. Again, it was agreed to
handle these issues on a case-by-case basis. The Chair indicated he would include the final
changes and reprint for review. Bill Scoffield indicated a lawyer had been retained by the town
for document review, among other things.
Citizen Bill Scoffield indicated that SITLA would be coming to Cannonville again on the 21st of
June 2025 for another town hall meeting with a group of archeologists asking for family stories
and sentiments about Promised Rock.
Not a committee agenda item, but Ms Chelsea Neilsen asked the committee for ideas about
developing the property next to her parents. We learned later that there were no septic or lot
size restrictions due to the fact that a previous resident/trailer had been positioned previously
on the adjacent lot and a variance had been approved then.
Adjourned: 6:20pm; next meeting to be scheduled June 18, 2025 at 6pm.
