Open Elected Offices
The Town of Independence will elect two City Council members and a Mayor during the 2025 Municipal Election, which will be held on November 4, 2025. Each office will serve a term of 4 years.
Qualified individuals may complete and submit to the Town Clerk, by email, a Declaration of Candidacy between June 2, 2025 and June 9, 2025.
Candidate Qualifications:
1. Candidates must be a United States citizen at time of filing for candidacy.
2. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the next municipal election.
3. Candidates must be a legal resident of the municipality, or a resident of the recent annexed area, for the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election.
4. Candidate must be a registered voter of the municipality.
5. Pursuant to Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute.

Open office for Interim Mayor:
The Town of Independence is currently accepting applications for the last six months of the remainder of the four year term of the recently vacated position of Mayor. Town Council meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. If you live in the Town, are a citizen of the United States, are over the age of 18, and are interested in being considered for the position, please email the Town Clerk at cbr0528@aol.com with a copy of your resume and a letter explaining your experience, and why you are interested in this position. Application deadline is June 6, 2025. The appointment will be on the Town Council Agenda for June 10, 2025.

One or more members of the Independence Town Council may participate electronically or telephonically pursuant to UCA 52-4-7.8
