A motion to recommend approval as proposed to Governance was unanimously approved. This award will be a continuation of funds intended only for recipients previously awarded under CK24-0002, Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC). We met with EIE last month and are meeting with them again 4/16. We do need to get this submitted and it will likely go to EDO for signatures before the Governance meeting. If changes need to be made, we will likely need to do it with a redirection after the NOA is received. Grant Title Executive Committee Review Description National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion WISEWOMAN: Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation of Women Across the Nation Period: 9/30/25 to 9/29/26 Application Due: 4/22/25 $950,000 Grant Status: Needs Review IPHS Exec met on 4/10/2025 and reviewed the following: BeWISE continuation application: Kalynn Filion reviewed this proposed application with the group. There were no major changes in scope of work or funding. A motion was made and unanimously approved to recommend the approval of the application as proposed to Governance. The WISEWOMAN (Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation) program serves low-income, uninsured, and underinsured women ages 40 to 64 years, with heart disease and stroke risk factor screenings and services that promote healthy behaviors to reduce the risk for heart disease and stroke. Utah is one of 24 awardees. CDC provides funding to local WISEWOMAN programs to enable qualifying women to receive free screenings and counseling about their risk for heart disease and stroke. Disease Plans: Disease Plan Discussion Includes Notes Carbapenemase-Producing Organism (CPO) Melissa Stevens Dimond The Carbapenemase-producing organism (CPO) disease plan has been completed and posted online. Hepatitis Melissa Stevens Dimond Hepatitis form changes were proposed and approved to go through flow 2 (meaning, form changes will be worked on with the Epidemiology Affiliate Group). We will notify Governance when these forms are completed. Other Agenda Items: Other Agenda Topic Discussion Includes Notes UPDATE: Maternal Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) UPDATE: Maternal Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) - Dakota Matherly addressed questions from IPHS Exec; questions were discussed and resolved. A motion was made and unanimously approved to implement Governance's approval of the proposed application from the April 7 Governance meeting. Exempt Grants (These grants have been labeled as exempt during the past two weeks): Grant Name Application Due Description Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program 5/2/2025 The purpose of the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) program is to enable states to support critical access hospitals in quality improvement and reporting, performance improvement and benchmarking, and to establish or expand programs for the provision of rural emergency medical services. This application is year 2 of 5. Improving Adolescent Health and Well-Being Through School-Based Surveillance and the What Works in Schools Program 4/24/2025 The program strategies have been linked to reductions in sexual risk behaviors, experiences of violence, and substance use, and improvements in mental health for students. This grant was reviewed and voted as 'exempt' by HPAP. Enhancing Reviews and Surveillance to Eliminate Maternal Mortality 4/30/2025 Enhancing Reviews and Surveillance to Eliminate Maternal Mortality - continuation application: Nickee Andjelic reviewed this continuation application with us. A motion was made and unanimously approved that this grant should remain exempt as long as outcomes and recommendations are regularly shared out with public health (nursing directors and LHOs). With the recent change in exemptions, this grant will remain exempt until its next competitive cycle (once the 5-year grant period ends) barring a significant change in funding or scope of the funds. Utah Thriving by Design: Built environment module for Utah Healthy Places Index 5/1/2025 As part of this project, PHASCO will provide funding to DHHS to design a stakeholder engagement process to gather information about how stakeholders anticipate their communities' benefiting from a built environment extension to the Utah HPI. This grant aligns the continued effort of DHHS to engage community stakeholders around the Utah HPI and improve functionality of the tool to make it accessible and relevant for multiple users.
