The Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining meets Wednesday, April 23, at 9 a.m. at the Department of Natural Resources building at 1594 West North Temple in Salt Lake City. The Board will hear the following matters at 9 a.m.:
1. Docket No. 2025-026 Cause No. 475-11 - In the Matter of the Request for Agency Action of MIDDLE FORK ENERGY UINTA, LLC for an order partially vacating the Board's order entered in Cause No. 475-02 and instead modifying the Board's order entered in Cause No. 187-07 to suspend Utah Administrative Code Rules R649-3-2, R649-3-10 and R649-3-11(1) and (2) as a result of the contraction of the KJ2 Federal Unit and second expansion of the Red Wash Federal Unit in Townships 7 and 8 South, Ranges 22 through 24 east, S.L.M., Uintah County, Utah.
2. Docket No. 2025-027 Cause No. 470-18 - In the Matter of the Request for Agency Action of MIDDLE FORK ENERGY UINTA, LLC for an order establishing overlapping special stand-up drilling units for production of oil, gas and associated hydrocarbons from the combined Wasatch through Dakota Formations from long lateral horizontal wells comprised of portions of Sections 25 through 28 and 33 through 36, T8S, R21E, S.L.M., Sections 30 and 31, T8S, R22E, S.L.M., and Sections 1 through 4, T9S, R21E, S.L.M., all in Uintah County, Utah. (This matter has been continued to the May 28, 2025 Board Hearing.)
3. Docket No. 2025-029 Cause No. 600-09 - In the Matter of the Request for Agency Action of SM ENERGY COMPANY for an order (1) Amending the Board's orders in Cause Nos. 139-149, 139-154, 139-163, 139-165, 139-166, and 600-04 to make uniform the heel/toe production setbacks for the units already established on the lands at issue, and (2) Establishing (a) thirteen overlapping 1920-acre DSUs, (b) ten overlapping 3840-acre DUBWDSUs, (c) eight overlapping 4-mile 2560-acre DSUs, and (d) six overlapping 4-mile 5120-acre DUBWDSUs each for the production of oil, gas and associated hydrocarbons from the Lower Green River-Wasatch (Colton) Formations in Sections 1-4, 6, 7, 9-16, 18, 19, 21-24, 26-28 and 33-35, Township 2 South, Range 1 West, U.S.M, Sections 1, 2, 11-14, 23 and 24 Township 2 South, Range 2 West, U.S.M, and Sections 27-34 Township 2 South, Range 3 West, U.S.M in Duchesne and Uintah Counties, Utah.
4. Docket No. 2025-030 Cause No. 376-01 - In the Matter of the Notice of Agency Action requesting the Board issue an order forfeiting the bond covering the well and facilities identified as API Number 43-037-30870 and directing the Division to orphan, plug, and/or reclaim the wellsite and facility.
5. Docket No. 2025-031 Cause No. 376-02 - In the Matter of the Notice of Agency Action requesting the Board issue an order forfeiting the bond covering wells and facilities identified as API Numbers 43-037-16237, 43-037-16244, 43-037-31034, 43-0373-1838, 43-037-31855, 43-037-31856, 43-037-31877, 43-037-31878 and directing the Division to orphan, plug, and/or reclaim the wellsites and facilities.
