Agenda Item #3 Jones and DeMille - Scope of Work/Site Visit
Wyatt Hansen from Jones and DeMille started off the discussion wanting to know the top three primary concerns/cares. Hansen assumed the number one spot would be cost. The second would be potential expansion/current needs and the third would be timing. Commissioner Clendennen questioned whether the renovation of the existing building would be first or if the demolition of the existing building and the new building would be the first step to take. Councilmember Hascall asked if getting the staff out of the building is the top priority. All agreed that it is still a major priority.
There was discussion regarding the square footage needs and the Architect Florence Hawkinson stated that trying to determine the footage without the visual is incredibly difficult and recommended that the city stick with the lower square footage numbers and then hash out the details once the space is determined.
Councilmember Hascall stated that the city should really focus on what is aesthetically pleasing, as Wellington City needs beautification. Hawkinson stated that she hopes that the city can trust that she knows how to make it functional yet aesthetically pleasing.
Hansen stated that the next steps will be a rough version of the design and that by the end of the schematic design, all the rooms will be laid out. Jones and DeMille plans to meet with the building committee on April 14th at 1pm at the Wellington City Hall.
