3. School Wide Survey Results Presentation (Sarah Sandberg) 5:40
Third time we've done this survey - 2018, 2023, now 2025
No current affiliation with SLArts, but her three children were students early in our
existence
Good response rates from faculty/staff and parents
Today is 'Big Picture' of results, not a data dump nor finding solutions; positive and
negative things
Focus groups for parents and faculty
This is one moment in time - a snapshot
Theme: Board / Administration
written/email communication works
what does the board do?
admin is communicative and responsive
numeric data is positive but written is mixed
Theme: Teachers
Amazing
Wnt more mentoring, training, support
New faculty have different perspectives
Theme: Curriculum
Good job in arts
Disconnect betweenfaculty/parents on Sped
BIG Issue: Parents want more rigor, teachers are frustrated trying to offer it

Huge improvement in counseling
Faculty and parents dislike advisory
Parents conflate Advisory, RISE, Fridays

Do not feel particularly connected to SLArts
Theme: Student Led Conferences (not in survey but came up in open-ended questions)

Fridays - throw away
Teacher happiness - seem less so
Bathrooms - issues
Scheduling - weak
Facilities - more cleaning
PE/Rec - bad situation
Grades - want letter grade system for rigor? some faculty want to bring back 5s
4. Fee Schedule for 25-26, Vote Expected (Nicole Laird) 6:40
Still some fee issues in flux with State Legislature; USBE has extended deadline to July 1
but we would like the schedule in place in time for Registration next month
Nicole can do an immediate refund if needed

presenting next month)
Greg would like board members to work on the outdoor space project
Katy - This is board's opportunity to decide what they want to do / how to support
/ engage new fundraising person

b. Hiring update
We just hired a great new drama teacher!
We interviewed for Katy's position and hired Whitney Childers
Katy says she will be a good fit
Jeff is now relocating out of state and 7th-grade math is open

Admissions/enrollment is on track for 2026
Met our annual campaign goal
SLArts 24 is approaching - every dollar matched up to $25,000!
Whitney is coming in this week to sign; Katy is prepping an enormous info doc to share
8. Discuss Governing Board Nominations (Greg Ostrander) 7:10
Folks who have passion and desire to give back to school and skill sets
Esp parents with multiple students
Focus on Financial knowledge frequently
But will talk to people who are interested
Also people from the outside community with different skills are welcome to apply - the
arts, construction, fundraising, etc.
At least 12, prefer more (highest # has been 19)
Jennie and Abby can renew if they would like

*Requests to Speak Persons requesting to speak to the Governing Board in an open meeting need to sign
up prior to the start of the open session of the board meeting, by emailing Greg Ostrander at
greg.ostrander@slarts.org. Resolution of questions or responses to proposals should not be expected at this
meeting; staff or others may be asked to research and/or prepare materials and solutions for a later time. Up
to fifteen minutes in total will be scheduled for persons requesting to speak. Three minutes will be allotted for
individual requests and five minutes will be allotted for group requests. If we receive more requests than the
allotted time permits, those requests may be scheduled for the next board meeting. Your concerns may be
submitted in writing to the principal's office for distribution to the Governing Board at any time.
