NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE CREATION OF A PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE DISTRICT BY SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
March 18, 2025
Salt Lake City received a petition from John Larson representing Jazz Arena Investors, LLC ('Petitioner') to create a convention center public infrastructure district in a capital city (the 'Proposed District'). The City is providing notice of a public hearing that will be held by the City Council on April 1, 2025 at 7 P.M. The public hearing is required by state law and is regarding the proposed creation of the Proposed District. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow for public input on whether the requested service (described below) is needed, whether the service should be provided by the City, County, or the Proposed District, and all other matters relating to the Proposed District.
Because the protest period has been waived in whole from the one property owner and there are no registered voters within the boundaries of the Proposed District, pursuant to Section 17D-4-201 of the Utah Code, there will be no protest period and the City may adopt a resolution creating the Proposed District after holding the public hearing detailed in this notice or may adopt a resolution on any date after.
The meeting will be held at City Hall and not within the Proposed District as there is no reasonable place to hold a public hearing within the Proposed District and the public hearing at City Hall is as close to the applicable area as possible.
