Town of Cannonville Planning Commission Meeting Minutes March 12, 2025 Town of Cannonville held a Planning Commission Meeting, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the town Hall. The meeting began at 6:00pm. Public in Attendance: Bill Scoffield, Suzie & John Bell, & Sherry Jensen Board Members: Peter Jensen, Chelse Nielson, Klancy Ott, Cole Twitchell (late), Mark Nelson (excused) Agenda as follows: Reading and Approval of Agenda: The agenda was read and adopted, motion by Klancy Ott, second by Chelsea Nielson, Approved Reading and Approval of minutes: Last meeting was reviewed and discussed; no formal minutes were written. New Staff & Backgrounds -Since the January meeting John Morreale stepped down for his service on the Planning Commission. A new staff was selected and voted in by the town Council: Pete Jensen, chair, and as new commission members, Chelsea Nielson, Klancy Ott & Cole Twitchell, with Mark Nelson remaining. Selecting a vice-chair was postponed for another meeting. Each member was welcomed and given an opportunity to share their backgrounds and ideas about the Planning Commission and their new roles. -In a pre-meeting held the previous Tuesday, the new zoning ordinance was reviewed. Over f ifteen items were discussed as possible updates/changes. The ruff document for editing was made available to Pete Jensen to annotate for further review. -Once finalize, Pete suggested funds be made available for a legal document review. All agreed. -Other topics reviewed as items for the Planning Commission to consider included: - Work/Try to implement a ten-year planning cycle, standardizing rules and regs - Plans should be workable for both big developers and the everyday folks looking to build in the Town of Cannonville - Short-term rental policy and governance was discussed; no action taken - Sustainable growth - Immediate concerns for the commission versus a governing long-term plan - Audio taping future meetings, making them available to the public - Pete highlighted some concerns about larger developments he's been a part of in Nevada and the dynamics of a pending SITLA-Promise Rock discussion facing the Town of Cannonville - Can the Planning Commission apply and get a budget assistance? - Another public zoning mtg will be scheduled in the near future to review and adopt the recommended changes to the new zoning ordinance. Adjourned: 7:05pm; next meeting to be scheduled.
