Job Title: Volunteer Fire Chief Location: Cedar Fort, Utah Department: Cedar Fort Volunteer Fire Department Reports To: Mayor and Town Council Member over Fire Department Position Type: Volunteer Job Overview: The Town of Cedar Fort is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Volunteer Fire Chief. This individual will lead the Cedar Fort Volunteer Fire Department, oversee fire protection services, and work towards developing a Wildland Fire Program and ambulance services when funding becomes available. The Fire Chief will ensure annual fire inspections are conducted and maintain compliance with state and local regulations. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management: Lead and coordinate the volunteer fire department, including recruitment, training, and operational readiness. Emergency Response: Direct and oversee fire suppression, emergency response, and rescue operations. Wildland Fire Program: Develop and implement a Wildland Fire Program to improve fire preparedness and response. Ambulance Services: Work towards establishing ambulance services as funding and resources allow. Fire Inspections & Compliance: Ensure annual fire inspections are completed for businesses and public facilities, maintaining compliance with safety regulations. Training & Drills: Plan and conduct regular training, drills, and exercises for the volunteer firefighters. Budget & Grants: Seek out funding opportunities, including state and federal grants, to support fire department initiatives. Community Engagement: Educate the public on fire prevention, safety, and emergency preparedness. Equipment & Maintenance: Oversee maintenance and readiness of fire department equipment and facilities. Qualifications: Prior firefighting experience required; leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of wildland fire management, emergency response, and fire safety regulations. Ability to recruit, train, and lead a team of volunteer firefighters. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work with town officials, state agencies, and emergency service providers. Grant writing or fundraising experience is a plus.
