Housed in the Department of Economic Development, the Business Advisory Board seeks to encourage economic development and target industry relocation within City boundaries. The board also helps direct City economic policy, promote small business growth, support local entrepreneurship, and assist the City in remaining responsive to the business community.
Business Advisory Board meetings are held in a hybrid meeting format. Board Members and staff may participate through an online format, and members of the public may join in person at the City & County Building: 451 South State Street, Room 335, Salt Lake City, UT 84111.

Mr. Makowski will provide updates on the work of the Department of Economic Development to the Board.
4. Business Items
a. 2025 Utah Legislative Review 30 minutes
Angela Price, Legislative Affairs Division Director, will provide a summary and review of the 2025 Utah Legislative Session to the Board.
b. Building Services and Economic Development Liaison 15 minutes
James McCormack, Building Services and Economic Development Liaison, will provide a review of 2024 and an overview of 2025 to date to the Board.
5. City Council Announcements - Austin Kimmel 0 minutes
a. Brian Redd was nominated by Mayor Mendenhall as the new Salt Lake City Police Department Chief and approved by the City Council during the Council's recent March 4, meeting.
b. CRA The Council also approved the appointments of Kim Shelley as the Director of the Public Lands Department on March 4, and Mark Kittrell as the City Attorney on February 18.
c. The Council approved an EDLF loan for Cold Plunge Coffee on March 4 and an EDLF loan for Policy Kings Brewery on February 18.
d. The Councils next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 8.
