State Public Health Approaches to Addressing Arthritis

The proposal is a continuation for Year 3.
Services and activities will not change from year 2.
LHDs funded are: Central, Davis, Salt Lake, Tooele, Utah, Weber-Morgan at $10,000 each.
15% of this award goes to LHDs.
We lost some FTE but are trying to balance that loss with current staff.
1. Recipients will expand Arthritis Appropriate Evidence-Based Interventions (AAEBIs).
2. Recipients will increase healthcare provider-patient assessment of physical activity levels, physical activity counseling for arthritis management, and referral pathways to support access to and availability of AAEBIs for people with arthritis and related co-morbidities.

Grant Status: Needs Review HPAP approved this request on February 6th, 2025. The goal of this continuation application is to reduce overdose deaths by enhancing Utah's ability to track and prevent nonfatal and fatal overdoses while also identifying emerging drug threats. The funding allows VIPP to continue surveillance strategies and to provide evidence-based and evidence-informed interventions that have an immediate impact on reducing overdose morbidity and mortality, with a focus on opioids, stimulants, and polysubstance use. CDC reinforces the use of surveillance and other data to inform and drive prevention efforts and policies.

Grant Status: Needs Review The Preparedness Executive Group voted on 2/25/2025, to approve, as written, the budget proposal for HPP HPAI supplemental funding. Nate Selin motioned to approve the proposed budget. Melissa Dimond seconded. All in attendance approved.
Grant name: 2024-2028 Hospital Preparedness Program Cooperative Agreement (Supplemental Funding)
Grant Purpose: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provided additional funds to ASPR to support the preparedness and response needs of the health delivery system for emerging special pathogen threats, such as avian influenza or bird flu.
Of additional note: ASPR has noted that these funds will be made available for the full 5-year project period through 6/30/29.

Interagency Outreach Training Initiative

The Interagency Outreach Training Initiative (IOTI) is a collaborative effort between the Utah State University Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice (IDRPP) and the Utah Coordinating Council for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD).
Continuation Application.
It has a funding ceiling of $50K.
Staff do not plan on passing funds through to LHDs
LHDs may be invited to promote the project and assist with recruitment.
HPAP Exec. Approved the grant as exempt on 2/26/2025.
