Cannonville Town Council Meeting Minutes
February 2025
Cannonvillle town held their regular Monthly Board Meeting Wednesday, February 19, 2025, in the town Hall. The meeting began at 6:00pm.
Public in Attendance: Teresa & Geo Thompson, Brannon Ott, Holly Baugh, Marty Rich, Shantel Manning, Jean Hall, Mark Nelson, Pete Jensen, Jeanee Shakespeare, DeAnn Brown, IHC administrator, B Westerman, Verjean Clark, Stephanie & Clint Brinkerhoff, Roy Suggett, Klancy Ott, Cherie Scoffield, and Emilee and Dallas Clark..
Board Members: Stewart Ivie, Melanie Ott (excused), John Morreale, & Alma Fletcher
Agenda as follows:

Reading and Approval of Agenda: The agenda was read and adopted by a motion by Stewart Ivie, second by John Morreale, all were in favor.
Reading and Approval of minutes: January 2025 were reviewed and approved adding some missing text under Water Department 'and the town will have a certified secondary water source.' Motion to approve was by Alma Fletcher, 2nd by Stewart Ivie, all were in favor.
Mayor's Items
-The Pete Jensen RV Park annexation request was reviewed and discussed. This would bring the 38-acre parcel into the town. A public mtg will be advertised and held March 19th at 5pm.
-Another public zoning mtg will be held March 12th at 6pm to review and adopt some recommended changes.
-The Promise Rock Development folks asked to meet with town Saturday March 15th at 2pm. A public mtg will be advertised and planned.
-John Morreale stepped down and was thanked for over five years of service on the Town Planning Commission. He was given a round of applause. A new planning commission was installed: Pete Jensen, temporary chair, Chelsea Nielson, Cole Twitchell, Mark Nelson and Klancy Ott. Motion to approve was by John Morreale, 2nd by Alma Fletcher, all were in favor.
-It was agreed to move the Half Marathon Trailer from the front of the firehouse and shift the town dumpster to west to avoid blocking the garage doors.
-The chair then recognized Ms Deana Brown, IHC Panguitch Hospital Administrator who talked about the fifty-year celebrations coming up, Dr Birch's retirement and Dr Kelsey Allen's hiring. The operating room construction is just about complete, giving the hospital additional capacity for visiting surgeons and minor surgeries.
-Deputy Sheriff Klancy Ott was given the floor. He indicated people in the greater Cannonville area are driving too fast and the department will be spending more time in the area monitoring speeds. Roy Suggett commented on the noise of 'Jake Brakes' going south on Kodachrome Road and the possible need for speed bumps.
-The chair then recognized MS Jeanie Shakespeare who made the case for getting more information about the Promised Rock Development before the March 12th mtg. A group of concerned citizens are developing a survey, updating the petition form, and plan to go door to door to raise the level of awareness about the short- and long-term effects of the project on town water and well demands, sewer, access, employment, schools, roads, property taxes, revenue, and small business impacts. Various folks in attendance agreed, commented in support of getting the word out. Additional comments about SITLA practices were voiced but will wait to learn about the legislative actions currently being considered in the current legislative sessions.
Departmental Reports:
Water: Alma reported usage is down as predicted during the winter months.
Fire: nothing to report
Roads: Still waiting to install signs with Blue Stake approval. Will work with Garfield Ready Mix to remove the snow around the town hall.
Parks: nothing to report

Adjourned: 7:00pm; next meeting March 19th, A motion was approved to adjourn by John Morreale, seconded by Alma Fletcher, approved.
