- County hereby gives notice of the initiation of a Secure Rural Schools Act Title III project to purchase wildland fire equipment, personal protective equipment, communication equipment, and training courses to be utilized mainly for emergency incidents during a wildfire and all-risk incidents throughout Utah County and the nation as a fire response to national emergency incidents. This will also be used to transport personnel and equipment to Firewise Communities of Utah County and for homeowner education to address the wildland fire issues on unincorporated lands in Utah County, specifically in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) when needed. In addition to the equipment purchase, this equipment will be used to educate property owners on fire danger in the WUI, provide information on how to create defensible spaces around their properties when needed to do so. Utah County will use the Title III funds for the above uses as authorized by Title III, 16 USC 7142. This notice initiates the mandatory 45-day public comment period on this proposed project. All comments shall be directed to patrickc@utahcounty.gov.
