Meeting Minutes for Dec 4, 2024
Called the Public Hearing for Rate increase to order: 6:04
In attendance: Marx Powell, Brandt Hart, Steve Simpson, Amer Tumeh, Jennifer Davila
Absent: Benny Musselman, Mike Yearous
Audience: Ann Leppenen, Britt Hornsby, Linda Sosa Luann Hook, Robert Rossel, Kathleen Pakish, Erin Nelson
Discussion for the proposed rate increase
See the proposed rate increases attachment
The board is looking at a 20% increase or a 40% increase. This increase is necessary because there is not enough revenue coming in to cover current expenses to manage the system
A 40% increase would allow for a slight cushion for emergencies and increases of expenses.
Luann Hook pointed out that the last rate increase took place in 2012 and if you average out the proposed 40% increase, it would be about 3% a year.

Culinary Water:
Powell: The tests came back good, we just sent 4th quarter arsenic tests today. Everything is on track sample wise. The PH has kind of gone up because of the winter use. So the plant is using more chemical to balance.
Simpson asked about the possibility of 'recasing' the Bar Well. Powell explained that if we recased the well, the casing diameter would be too small to run a 5 hp pump into the well. A smaller pump wouldn't produced enough pressure to get the water into the water lines.
