Grant Status: Needs Review Epi/Informatics Exec members reviewed the governance form for the High-Impact HIV Prevention and Surveillance Programs for Health Departments grant (CDC-RFA-PS-24-0047). This was requested, and accomplished, by email given the turnaround time for the grant. EIE members approved a motion to recommend approval of the grant as outlined in the form.
The purpose of this grant is to implement a comprehensive HIV prevention and surveillance program to prevent new HIV infections and improve the health of people with HIV. The grant aligns with the CDC's Division of HIV Prevention strategic focus areas to bolster community engagement, health equity, Syndemics, and whole person approaches to HIV prevention. The grant priorities are to increase knowledge of HIV status, reduce HIV transmission, prevent new HIV infections, improve linkage to care and viral suppression, and maintain the elimination of perinatal transmission.

The populations of focus are those impacted by the high prevalence of CVD, exacerbated by
health inequities and disparities, social determinants, such as low incomes, poor health care, and unfair opportunity structures. Specific emphasis is placed on the prevention and control of hypertension and high cholesterol.
