FAYETTE TOWN COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 7, 2024
LOCATED AT FAYETTE TOWN HALL AT 7PM
FACILITATED BY MAYOR JED BARTHOLOMEW
CALL TO ORDER: At 7:03pm
ROLL CALL: Jed Bartholomew, Mayor, Bryan Lyman, Keith Bartholomew, Melissa Mellor and new Council member, Breanne Mashek
PRAYER: Bryan Lyman
** RUSTY JONES HAS RESIGNED AND WE AS A COUNCIL NEEED TO CHOOSE A NEW MEMBER FOR OUR TOWN COUNCIL.
POSSIBLE EXECUTIVE MEETING: Two citizens were at the meeting to apply for the new Council member position. AnaLee Marker and Breanne Mashek were interviewed by the Council and both were amazing. Both of them had good ideas they would like to do for the town and the council. The council voted by paper, so votes were private, and they chose Breanne Mashek.
***SWEAR IN THE NEW COUNCIL MEMBER: Kathi Williams, Town Clerk, did the Oath of Office for Breanne Mashek to become a new member of the Fayette Town Council.
1) REVIEW MINUTES: Bryan made the motion to accept the Minutes. Melissa seconded the motion. Minutes passed.
2) REVIEW EXPENDITURES: Bryan made the motion to accept the Expenditures. Keith seconded the motion. Expenditures passed.
3) DANI TAYLOR WANTS TO ADDRESS US ABOUT HOW THE HOSPITAL IS DOING: Dani couldn't make it, but will come talk to us in January. We are going to ask for her to remain on the Hospital Board for the coming term. She has been doing a great job.
4) WE HAVE 2 BUSINESS LICENSE'S THAT NEED TO BE APPROVED: OMAR SILVEIRA FOR A TRUCKING BUSINESS LICENSE AND TROY BULLOCK FOR A BUSINESS LICENSE FOR A HANDIMAN BUSINESS: Only Omar came in tonight to talk to the Council about his Business license. The Council asked him how many trucks were going to be involved in his company. He stated that only one was going to be running right now. We asked also if he had a place to park it off the road? He stated that yes, he would be parking it in the back yard. Bryan made the motion to grant Omar his business license. Melissa seconded the motion. The motion was passed.
5) THE HILL FAMILY WANTS TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL ABOUT THE DRAINAGE BY THEIR HOME. ANY IDEAS? Justin Mellor was present to represent the Hill family. They are concerned about the drainage in front of their property. We as a Town had a ditch dug on the north side of the property to prevent flooding. The council suggested a culvert under the driveway. They would like us to do rocks in the ditch and then dig a new ditch in front of the house, on the west side. The mayor suggested a meeting with Justin, the Mayor, and Dave to figure out what we can do to fix the issue.
6) DIANA WOULD LIKE TO RENT THE HALL ON MONDAY MORINGS FOR THEIR HOME SCHOOL GET TOGETHER. WE NEED TO COME UP WITH A PRICE FOR THEM TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL OF THE HALL. Diana decided not to do the school here because it was a little too big and it was too much noise with the kids.
7) WE NEED TO DECIDE ON WHAT WE WANT TO DO FOR THE TOWN FOR OUR CHRISTMAS DINNER ON DECEMBER 5TH 2024. WE NEED TO ADVERTISE TOO. The dinner for the town is on Thursday December 5, 2024. Keith is in charge and he suggested maybe having it catered again this year. The council decided to have another meeting to decide this on the 19th.
8) THE COUNCIL NEEDS TO CHOOSE A COUPLE TO BE IN CHARGE FOR OUR 24TH OF JULY CELEBRATION NEXT YEAR: We are going to create a committee to do this each year so whoever we get will have help. We are going to address this in the new year.
9) DECORATIONS FOR THE POLES THIS YEAR. ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR LIGHTING? We still have an issue with the decorations for the Christmas lights in town. The clerk tried to find out what we could do to be able to use the regular lights on the decorations, but there was nothing we can do this year. The mayor explained what happened with Rocky Mountain Power. We will hang them up and just use them as we can. We will check out different options for next year.
10) WATER REPORT: CHECK IF JORDAN TOOK HIS TEST AND HOW HE DID. POSSIBLE RAISE: Jordan did pass his test! He has done a great job for us! We will raise his pay to 1,000 a month. He reported that the spring is doing well. He is looking for a bid from someone to fix the hatch on the tank and get it fixed. Dave Bown did do the fencing around the water tank.
11) P&Z REPORT: There wasn't anything to report.
CITIZEN'S CONCERNS
Bonnie Marker wanted to know if we wanted to donate to the 5k Santa Run this year. We will have to approve this in the meeting on the 19th.
