Amalga Planning and Zoning Minutes December 4, 2024 7:00 PM 6590 N 2400 W Amalga, Utah Visitors: Diane Morley, Scott Mcune, Charlie Eriksen, Enrique Arenas Sr., Enrique Arenas Jr., Greg Phillips, Rich Gladfelder, Mayor Dave Wood, Shantrell Ritter, Town Clerk, Teena Humphries, Town Treasurer Commission Members: Judy Downs Chair, Mike Diehl, April Hansen, Kelly Noble, Dave Lee, Secretary/Town Board 1. Minutes of November 6, 2024, were reviewed. Corrections: Item 2-Discussion with Sid Munk about a renovated dairy milk barn on the farm Fourth sentence in body of Item 2-however it just seems not to the work. Motion to approve with correction-Mike Diehl Second-Kelly Noble Motion Carried 2. Zoning Clearance Application from Enrique Arenas at 2300 W 6550 N for a storage shed, 32'X 15'. Paperwork was submitted. Inclosing the part of the carport that is covered. Power was already there. Cache County building permit required. Trailer behind the home is not being used as a residence. He was made aware that a violation would result in a fine. Motion to Approve-Mike Diehl Second-Kelly Noble Motion Carried 3. Zoning Clearance Application from Mike Diehl at 8480 N 2400 W for a shed 40' X 46', 22' in height. Shed to be fabricated from shipping containers. Pictures were included. Two locations were provided. Option 1 was to the North and Option 2 to the South. No power, water, or sewer. Motion to Approve-April Hansen Second-Kelly Noble Motion Carried 4. Business License Application from Diane Morley at 7465 N 2400 W. Diane will be selling dahlia flower tubers. Most selling will be on the internet. Expecting little or no traffic involvement. Signage is not anticipated at this time. Grace Garden Blooms is the business name. Motion to Approve-Mike Diehl Second-Judy Downs Motion Carried 5. Discussion with Dave Wood about possible code violation with a trailer being used as a dwelling. The occupant is in the process of moving out. He is receiving assistance from BRAG. He has found another place to live in Logan. He will be out by the end of December. The trailer may not be moved for some time. 6. Application for a Rezone from Thad and Kathy Erickson on Parcel Number 13-040-0002 at approximately 3000 W Hwy 218. Acreage involved is 9.02. Charlie Erickson has been designated as the representative for this action. All paperwork was presented to the Commission. Parking issues were discussed. At this point of the development P&Z is only requiring parking areas to supportive of the type of equipment to be involved Motion to present this application at a Public Hearing, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at a regularly scheduled meet of Planning and Zoning-Judy Downs Second-Mike Diehl Motion Carried 7. Discussion with Scott Mcune of a possible code violation at 2575 W 6200 N. There were family members living off and on in a garage in back of the main residence. There is no one living in the structure at present. There have never been renters. Scott was made aware of the code. He may at some point want to attach the building to the main home. Planning and Zoning considers the matter resolved. 8. Discussion with Rich Gladfelder about code violations at the old Collene Lindley property. Rich told us that no one is living in any trailers. No one is living in the buildings that P&Z had thought to be apartments. There are people coming a going all the time associated with his business. The main home is not being rented out. Rich stated that no one ever lived there and paid rent. He did have some workers stay there that were working on the canal at one time. Planning and Zoning considers the matter resolved. 9. Discussed the items that Daniel Jensen presented to us at our last meeting. Items were reviewed. These changes need to be codified. Planning and Zoning will include these changes in the Public Hearing to be scheduled for January 2, 2025. Secretary will post the needed notifications by December 18, 2024, in the paper, the public website, and the town.
