September 4, 2024, AT 7:00 PM The Panguitch City Library Board meeting was held at the Panguitch City Library at 25 South 200 East Those in attendance were Lucy Sarles, Verlaine Spencer, Tracy Wright, Kathy Peterson, Julie Bishop, Laura Woodbury, Shannon Fawson, Jon Torgerson, Les Gripkey, Jakob Thygerson WELCOME Shannon Fawson called the meeting to order at 7:02 APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Jon Torgerson moved, seconded by Tracy Wright, to approve minutes from May 16, 2024 Motion passed with all in favor COMMUNICATIONS Tracy Wright requested we have all communications happen on one continuous thread, so we have a reference to look back on. The librarians prefer texting, at least text a quick message with more information available via email. BOARD BUSINESS At the request of Library Director, Jon Torgerson moved, seconded by Tracy Wright, to table nominating a new President for our next meeting. Motion passed with all in favor Jon Torgerson moved, seconded by Laura Woodbury, to table discussion of the bylaws, including work meetings, till the city attorney can look at them and city council approves them. Motion passed LIBRARIAN BUSINESS Lucy Sarles reported the Quality Standards have been sent to the state. She is working on the Statistical Report numbers for this year. Once the numbers are resolved, she will send the document to the board. The color printer is not working and a replacement one has been ordered. Verlaine Spencer reported that the Summer Reading Program went well with 107 participants. There was an increase in the 13-18 age group. Better prizes seemed to help bring in more participants. 44 out of the 107 participants completed the program. At the request of the Library Director, she is working on a poster listing some resources for patrons to gather more information about the book they are interested in reading. BOOKMOBILE Welcome to the new bookmobile driver Jackob Thygerson. Kathy Peterson reported the state is sending a lot of new books. Shelves are overloaded. COMMITTEES UPDATES Julie Bishop reported Friends of the Library is doing well, with having a booth event most months. They have added $300 in petty cash for the library, with roughly $4,600 funds available. Tracy Wright reported that the Summer Food Program was amazing with over 5,000 food boxes given out in the 10 week period. It was mentioned that the program brought in more and new people into the library. She has it slated to do next year as well. SETTING OF NEXT MEETING The next meeting is scheduled for Monday November 4th 2024 at 6:30pm. ADJOURNMENT Tracy Wright adjourned at 8:02
