Cannonville Town Council Meeting Minutes
October 16, 2024
Cannonvillle town held their regular Monthly Board Meeting Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 7pm in the town Hall. Meeting began at 6:59pm
Public in Attendance: Erik McDonald, Teresa & Geo Thompson, Arjean Ivie, Levi Holm, Ashlyn & Jeff Stock
Board Members: Stewart Ivie, Melanie Ott, John Morreale, & Alma Fletcher

Reading and Approval of minutes: Sep minute's approval postponed until November. Motion by Alma Fletcher, 2nd by Stewart Ivie, approved.
Planning Commission:
John indicated he'd reviewed the Arieal Jessop project south of town and was working with Ariel and Kadden Figgins about moving forward with the water hook up. Ariel initially requested a residential hook up but has now asked for a 4' meter to support a fire hydrant planned for the property. Alma mentioned he had a possible alternative solution.
Mayor's Items
SITLA came to town with some developers for a site visit. No decision has been made about the final disposition, including making a part of Kodachrome State Park.
The Utah mandated subdivision was reviewed and adopted with a minor change to allow 'flag lots.' Motion to adopt proposed by John Morreale, 2nd by Stewart Ivie, approved.
Debris management was discussed in view of the new county directive restricting what's included in the town debris boxes. The Hughes Waste Management costs we reviewed and discussed. A decision was made to deliver a 15yd box at the firehouse during the interim.
Twenty-nine of thirty-two quarterly IRS941 forms have been submitted to the IRS to be in compliance. Three remaining Qtrs will be submitted shortly.
The basketball court was cleaned off and the weeds removed. Thanks to Willie Dunham and fam, and Joe Thompson. Bob Orton was asked to bid on surfacing and striping the cement. Yet to be received.
The Pumpkin Weigh in will be held 9am October 19th along with a decorating and apple pie contest.
Departmental Reports:
Water: Alma reported the Spring House is operational for emergency use. Awaiting the final water certifications from the state. He outlined how it can be used this winter as necessary chlorinating under solar power. Win Win for the town. Water tests are all within limits.
The backup generator may not be needed now with the operation of the Spring House and disposition was discussed. It was determined to keep it for the winter, treat and fill the tank with red diesel, and make the decision in the Spring.
The Bonnie Nelson water leak was fixed last Saturday.
With the cold snap coming, Alma recommended the water be secured and flushed in the park restrooms/kitchen, weather dependent.
Fire: Stewart reported there will be a firehouse cleanup on Oct 26th. Everybody is invited to help and make decisions on what needs to be repurposed.
Roads: John proposed a motion to buy the street signs, 2nd by Stewart Ivie, approved. The county inmate crews will be asked/hired to installed. Mention was made to have Blue Stakes mark the area to avoid cutting lines. Signs will be installed 8-10' high.
Parks: Melanie reported plans are coming along for the November 30th town lighting party, including hot chocolate, scones, Santa, and Cannonville stories from a very local story teller.
There will also be a door decorating contest.
Miscellaneous: John Morreale and Ramona were thanked for keeping the park trees watered and dunged.
Willie Dunham family and Cherie Scoffield was thanked for basketball court cleanup
