5. Consideration of approving resolution 2024-14 Proposed tax increase - Shyla, still going to vote no, family has to budget, the Town needs find ways to budget better. Raising taxes shouldn't always be the answer. MaryEllen lives on Social Security and can't afford it. Against the raise as of right now. who is for it? who is going to suffer for it? Mayor- Accountant needs us to raise taxes. Dave- .0023 tax increase 1/5 of 1%. 56$-57$ per year. All of the work outside and around town have over 200 hours of volunteer work, not costing town a penny. $15000 per year basically for an insurance policy. If another fire/emergency happens in the town then we will not get assistance from County state or government, if we do not raise taxes. Mayor- WE HAVE TO HAVE EMERGENCY PLAN IN PLACE!
Justin-If we don't have any money set aside we are showing no due diligence, so we will not get assistance when needed. State says you will have it in place. $10000 operations, $10000 for emergency and $15000 for wages. Fire dept has been on top of this for a long time. Flooding is an issue lately. If we don't have EMP set aside we will not get assistance.
The town recently has received 4million in grants.
Dana allred- sr 36 Ditches flooding when it rains bad. Issued a notice to a resident to move stuff to clean drainage ditch. The state needs to be contacted to clean plugged drains. If its impacting your property then call us, (Fire Dept) and they can contact the person who needs to fix it. State roads needs to be contacted. Weather event was happening the other day, FD was contacted and Rod shuts off the treatment plant.
Mary Ellen- Appreciates the members of community for being here tonight.
David Nutzman- My contact will be on the next newsletter. If there is a flooding, fire, roads issue please call me, should respond immediately. This Tax increase is a necessary evil.
If its impacting you and your property, The Town/ Fire Dept is there.
Will discuss the Udot infrastructure with the state.
We need the towns input on what is happening with the town. Communications is important.
