BOUNTIFUL CITY PUBLIC NOTICE OF CITY COUNCIL VACANCY AND INTENT TO FILL This is formal notice that the Bountiful City Council will fill a City Council vacancy caused by the passing of Councilmember Jesse Bell. The City Council intends to appoint a replacement at a public meeting to be held on October 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. This will be an open meeting and the public and media are welcome to attend. Per Utah Code 20A-1-510(1)(b), this notice is posted until Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at City Hall, on the City and the Utah Public Notice websites inviting all interested and qualified persons to apply. To be considered for this vacancy, you must file an application and a declaration of candidacy with the Bountiful City Recorder/Deputy Recorder during normal office hours at Bountiful City Hall (7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday - Thursday), 795 South Main Street. Interested persons who meet the following qualifications will be interviewed in a public meeting held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024: (1) Be a United States citizen at time of filing. (2) Be a registered voter of the municipality. (3) Be a resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the appointment. (4) Not be a convicted felon, unless the right to hold elective office has been restored. Interested persons may pick up an application and instructions from the Bountiful City Recorder/Deputy Recorder at City Hall located at 795 South Main Street, Bountiful, Utah 84010 during normal business hours (7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday) between September 25 and October 9, 2024. The application, Declaration of Candidacy form and other related documents must be completed and physically received by the City Recorder no later than 5:00 p.m. MDT on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. All documents submitted become a public record subject to records requests. The term of the vacancy is through December 31, 2025. If the appointed member wishes to serve after that date, they will be required to file for candidacy in the 2025 general municipal election and win one of the two City Council seats that will be up for election at that time. _______________________________ __September 25, 2024______________ Shawna Andrus, City Recorder Date
