PUBLIC NOTICE POLICE DEPARTMENT - JAG GRANT The St. George Police Department has recently been notified of available funding through the United States Department of Justice under the FY 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Local Solicitation. The JAG program offers local agencies the flexibility to allocate justice funds based on their most pressing needs. The St. George Police Department is eligible to receive $24,951 under this program. These JAG funds can be used to support personnel, equipment, supplies, contracts, training, technical assistance, and information systems for criminal justice initiatives. The St. George Police Department plans to utilize the grant to acquire specialized equipment aimed at improving our operational capacity in various law enforcement scenarios, including crowd management, vehicle pursuits, detainee transport, and officer fitness testing and wellness programs. The equipment requested includes: - (4) 40MM Less Lethal Launchers - (10) Public Order Riot Shields - (7 sets) Stop Sticks - (6) Half Cages for F150 Patrol Vehicles - Miscellaneous Exercise equipment used to test officer fitness and to train officers for bi-annual fitness testing These acquisitions will strengthen the department's ability to deliver safe and effective law enforcement services. By enhancing capabilities in public order management, pursuit intervention, detainee transport safety, and officer wellness, we will be better positioned to address the evolving challenges of modern policing.
