The meeting was called to order by Scott Sabey. The board discussed the need to be more clear and make sure everyone is included in any decisions that were made. There was some confusion during the 4th of July celebration about what had been decided on to pay the summer workers. There was a discussion about having something in place like a liability waiver for the kids that we hire in the summer. Before hiring summer workers again, the board would like to discuss when the kids are going to work and if there should be certain age requirements. There will be more clear communication across the board before deciding to hire summer workers again.
The board discussed some expectations that are needed with Paul Webb in maintaining the mowing and maintenance as well as keeping the town hall clean for when people reserve the building. There have been some complaints and frustrations about the town hall being dirty when it has been rented. The board is going to be more clear and get Paul on a schedule. There was discussion about getting him more help or if the town needs to go a different route. The board is going to invite Paul to come discuss these needs that are not being met.
Everyone thought that the 4th of July was a success this year. The pavilion worked great at the rodeo grounds and was nice to have seating for everyone to enjoy their food and visit. Nachos sold really well but the churros, candy and ring pops did not sell as well. Venmo worked well and the board thinks we should continue using that in the future. The cheese for the burgers that the board got from Bridget Pugmire worked really well and want to do that again in the future. Next year, we need more pickles and ketchup. Monika Schulthess has a spreadsheet that is going to keep track of what amounts will be needed next year. Another suggestion was to potentially add another speaker on the west end of the rodeo grounds. When the wind picked up, it was harder to hear the rodeo at that end. That is something the board is going to check into to see if that is a possibility.
The parade went well and had a large attendance. The dance also had great reviews. Jeff Allred did really well as the DJ. The concert was also busy and sold lots of food. These are all things the board would like to continue in the future.
Monika Schulthess asked if the church could use the town's speakers. Scott Sabey has a personal speaker that he is going to check on.
Mayor Sabey told the Hunter Bros to get a new water heater and to replace the water spigot down at the pavilion.
Monika Schulthess made the motion to approve June minutes. Sami Ellingford seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Monika Schulthess made the motion to approve the July bills. Raymond Frandsen seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Paul Webb came in to discuss matters. The board determined that they will give Paul one more chance. They are going to be very specific and get a list of what is expected of him each month.
Sami Ellingford told the board that she is going to resign from her Board Member position.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
