Description/Agenda
TriCounty Health Department (TriCHD) is requesting proposals for projects that address root causes and factors associated with youth use of electronic cigarettes, marijuana, and other drugs. TriCHD will be awarding entities with funding to carry out their projects. Substance misuse/abuse continues to be an important public health concern. Evidence shows that the initiation of substance use in adolescence can lead to higher levels of misuse, abuse, and substance use disorders later in life. TriCHD is interested in working with and supporting community coalitions and organizations in the early prevention of adverse outcomes related to youth substance abuse. The aim of this funding is to identify innovative projects and partnerships across Daggett, Duchesne, and Uintah counties that are committed to addressing risk or protective factors identified in the Utah Student Health and Risk Prevention Statewide Survey (SHARP). Those eligible to apply for this grant are schools, law enforcement, government agencies, and coalitions focused on substance abuse prevention. TriCHD is accepting applications from now until July 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Applicants will be notified of funding status on or before July 15, 2024. Award funds will be distributed in July. Proposals will be scored by a panel of TriCHD staff familiar with current best practices, risk, and protective factors, the Utah SHARP survey, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), and current evidence-based or a promising practice. More information on the scoring process is available upon request. Applicants with high scoring projects will be awarded between $1,000 - $100,000 for the period of one year. To apply, download the application and email it to alinschoten@tricountyhealthut.gov once it has been completed.
