Bret called the meeting to order. Bret asked for approval of the minutes from February. Paul made a motion to approve. Linda seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. There was a change of schedule for next month's meeting. We will be meeting on the 3rd Thursday insead of the second.
Bret stated that the commission reviewed the land being traded with Leonard Howe Jr. and the city. The city boundaries will change a little bit with this trade and it will require an annexation and disconnect process. The city council directed that it be a neutral exchange and they have given advice and consent to make the exchange. The land in question is at 1600 S 300 W. The was a plat available for viewing. The land exchange will square up the Howe property and the city property. Let the record show that the planning commission has reviewed and discussed the property exchange and approves this city boundary change.
UNHS is requesting to annex 10 acres behind their existing clinic on 300 west and 860 south. They have requested it to be an R2 zone. Bret brought up the question of whether they would be interested in zoning some of it for residential and some for commercial. Byron stated that they are still in the planning phases, but they plan to have some housing units in various sizes as well as an infusion clinic, a distribution center for medical supplies and possibly a counseling center. Bret asked if they know how much they will want for housing and how much for the other stuff. Byron stated that they are still in the planning process. There was discussion about tabling the issue until they were further along in the planning process so that they have more specifics on what they want. Tyler Nielson with Jones and DeMille stated that it would be fine to table it for now because the whole process is still going to take some time. Trent asked if the planning commission can approve the 10 acres for annexation and then the planning process can continue and they can come back at a later date with the specifics of how they want it zoned. Linda made a motion to recommend the annexation. Paul seconded the motion. Byron declared his conflict of interest in the matter. He is the COO of UNHS and the annexation will benefit UNHS, he said that he is willing to abstain from voting if anyone has an issue with it. No one did. The motion passed unanimously.
Bret stated that some recommendations have been made to the mayor and they hope to have a new member or two of the commission soon and then they can appoint new officers.
Paul made a motion to adjourn. Linda seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 7:24pm.
