NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE LANDMARKS COMMISSION
The Provo City Landmarks Commission will hold a public hearing November 21, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. in the Community Development Conference Room at the Provo City Center, located at 330 West 100 South. The items listed below will be discussed, and anyone interested is invited to attend and provide comment. Preceding the public hearing, a briefing will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Community Development Conference Room. The briefing is open to the public; however, formal presentation of items, public comment and actions will be reserved for the public hearing at 12:30 p.m.
ITEM 1 Arieh Steinlauf, agent for property owner Mike Bernsten, requests approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness, from the Landmarks Commission, to do facade enhancements to the Southworth Hall, and also requests a positive recommendation, for Conditional Use Permit (CUP) approval to install a new 6' x 20' marquee sign to encroach within the City’s Center Street right of way; located at 116 West Center Street, Provo, Utah, in the General Downtown (DT-1) Zone. ITEM 2 Property owner Kenneth Stika requests approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness, from the Landmarks Commission, to do facade renovations to The Great Salt Lake Guitar Company store front, located at 362 West Center Street, Provo, Utah, in the General Downtown (DT-1) Zone. ITEM 3 Property owners Mr. and Mrs. Dave Borget, requests approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness, from the Landmarks Commission, to do facade renovations to the Dave's Bernina sales and service store front, located at 268 West Center Street, Provo, Utah, in the General Downtown (DT-1) Zone. ITEM 4 Property owner Victor Vong requests approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness, from the Landmarks Commission, to do facade renovations to the Rice King restaurant store front, located at 278 West Center Street, Provo, Utah, in the General Downtown (DT-1) Zone. Central Business District Neighborhood. 11-0007LMDR
Items noted on the agenda with a star (*) require legislative action by the Municipal Council following a public hearing. Unmarked items are administrative actions requiring the approval of only the Landmarks Commission. Decisions on items involving either landmark designation or the refusal to issue a Certificate of Historic Appropriateness may be appealed to the Municipal Council within thirty (30) days of the decision of the Commission per Section 16.03 of the Provo City Code.
Copies of the agenda materials, public hearing procedure, and staff recommendations are available the week of the hearing at reasonable cost in the Community Development office, located at 330 West 100 South, Provo, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
